Organized by the Iowa Tech Chicks, the Red Chair visit is tied to a nationwide campaign to increase gender diversity in computing and IT.  You are invited to “take a stand” by sitting in the Red Chair on Thursday morning at the BioVentures Building.  Participants are encouraged to take a photo and upload their story to the website as well as their own social media pages, using the hashtag #womenintech, to support women in technology.

·       October 22 morning: 1 Million Cups Cedar Rapids, Iowa Startup Accelerator, Vault, Geonetric

·       October 23: UIowa Research Park

About the Red Chair

Each chair is made from 111 recycled plastic Coke bottles. Each is a piece of art. Partnering with BASF, Emeco put to use an innovative formulation of rPET (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate- recycled plastic bottles) to create a molded chair of exceptional strength. Each chair is designed to last for 150 years.
