The University of Iowa Research Park will kick off a series tomorrow called Startup Solutions that offers one-on-one expert advice on a range of topics to help tenants grow their businesses, including human resources, accounting, law and technical issues.  The free series will begin July 1, when Brenda LaMarche of BRL HR Consulting LLC will be on hand from 2-4 p.m. at the UI BioVentures Center, 2500 Crosspark Road, Coralville.

"The main goal for this series is to provide our startups with expert advice in the key areas of running a business," said Stephanie Dengler, director of operations for the UI Research Park. "With this program, companies won't have to spend their time or money in search of consultation. They can simply schedule an appointment with us, get the help they need and continue with their research."

Ms. LaMarche has more than 21 years of experience as a human resources generalist. She will offer advice on a range of HR issues including employee benefits administration, payroll administration, employee relations, I-9 audits, and management training and support.

Other scheduled consultations, all of which will run from 2-4 p.m., include:

July 2: Hayley Yearian, of UI Partners, will discuss creating websites, managing databases, e-commerce and general business planning.
July 8: Bruce Guither, of Carlson Hartsock & Guither PLC, will be available to talk about tax planning and preparation, payroll reporting, QuickBooks setup and support, bookkeeping, financial statements and more.
July 22: Jason Sytsma, of Shuttleworth & Ingersoll PLC, will be available to provide legal advice to companies at all stages of development.

Additional consultation sessions are being planned. To make an appointment, park tenants should email research-park@uiowa.edu or call (319) 335-4063.
